AAron Munroe
1743-1825

Aaron Munroe was a Private in Captain Solomon Pollard’s Billerica militia company in Colonel Green’s regiment which marched on the alarm of April 19th 1775. He was accompanied in the battle by his father Nathan Munroe, his cousin Jonas Munroe, and according to tradition, his grandfather Joseph Munroe. He later served in Captain Solomon Kidder’s company in Colonel Brook’s regiment and fought at White Plains in 1776. During the battle, records indicate he became seriously ill either from disease or from wounds sustained in combat. However, he managed to survive and make it back to Carlisle where he recovered.

Aaron Munroe's farmhouse formerly stood at 376 Westford Street and was replaced in the 1880s.
Carlisle Patriots Day 250 is a fiscally sponsored project of the Carlisle Historical Society with the support of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and MA250. We work in close partnership with the Carlisle 250 Committee,  an official town committee formed to coordinate the town's commemoration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
