The coin, forged in the USA with an antique bronze finish, signifies the historical importance of April 19, 1775, to past, present, and future inhabitants of Carlisle. This Carlisle250 Commemorative Coin will be the centerpiece of an 8-coin collection. The seven additional coins will be trail walk medals, issued for the Estabrook trail walks for 2025- 2031.
All seven trail walk medals will have a unique and historically significant front design and a back design featuring the common reverse side of the 1975 coin.

Background: On April 19, 1775, a small band of Minutemen from surrounding Middlesex
County villages, including what is now Carlisle, encountered British Regulars at the North
Bridge in Concord. A short skirmish followed and thus began the War of Independence from
which our nation was born. Each year on April 19th the townspeople of Carlisle retrace the
footsteps of the 16 colonists who participated in the fight at Concord’s North Bridge. The
route is commonly called the Estabrook Trail, and at the time was a well-used route to
Concord because the North Bridge was the only bridge over the Concord River. The
Bicentennial medals were sponsored by the Carlisle Colonial Minutemen, a group dedicated
to the study and preservation of the Carlisle history of April 19, 1775.
