1744-1785

Above: Asa Green's gravestone
Asa Green was the brother of Nathan and Zacheus Green and had a farm in the center of town near what is today the Green Cemetery. Asa Green was a minuteman and also served as Second Lieutenant in James Russell's Company in Colonel Eleazer Brook's regiment which marched to Dorchester to reinforce the Continental Army on March 4th 1776.

After the war in 1780, Asa was chosen to serve as the District's Sealer of Weights and Measures, charged with ensuring that all scales used in commerce and to weigh produce were properly calibrated.
Carlisle Patriots Day 250 is a fiscally sponsored project of the Carlisle Historical Society with the support of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and MA250. We work in close partnership with the Carlisle 250 Committee,  an official town committee formed to coordinate the town's commemoration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
