Asa ParLiN
1754-1822

Picture
Above: The Parlin Farmhouse at 1081 Westford Street, constructed by Asa Parlin in 1806. The home replaced an older 18th dwelling constructed by James Emery which burned down. The 75 acre Emery-Parlin Farm has been owned by the Sorli Family since 1914.

Asa Parlin was a private with Captain David Wheeler's Company in Colonel Nixon's Regiment stationed at Winter Hill during the winter of 1776. He later served with Captain Israel Heald's Company in Colonel Eleazer Brooks Regiment.

After the war, Asa Parlin served as a Selectman and was Town Clerk from 1785-1802 and again from 1806-1808. He also was appointed by the Governor to serve as Justice of the Peace and styled himself Esquire.

Asa Parlin grew up in the small homestead at 65 Cross Street. After the war, he purchased a 100 acre farm on Westford Road from the Emery family and built a stately new farmhouse. This farm has remained almost completely in-tact and has been owned by the Sorli family since 1914.

Asa Parlin is buried in Carlisle's Green Cemetery.

Carlisle Patriots Day 250 is a fiscally sponsored project of the Carlisle Historical Society with the support of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and MA250. We work in close partnership with the Carlisle 250 Committee,  an official town committee formed to coordinate the town's commemoration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
