Joseph Nickles
Born 1760

Picture
Above: According to Carlisle Historian Martha F. Wilkins, Nickles family tradition suggests this home at 564 East Street was constructed by James Nickles Sr., around 1760 and is where his son, Private Joseph Nickles resided at the time of the Revolution.

Joseph Nickles, the younger brother of Sargent James Nickles, and Private John Nickles Jr., served as a private in Captain Solomon Pollard’s company of militia in Colonel Green’s regiment which marched on the alarm of April 19th 1775. Nickles family tradition suggests he resided in the old saltbox farmhouse at 564 East Street.
Carlisle Patriots Day 250 is a fiscally sponsored project of the Carlisle Historical Society with the support of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and MA250. We work in close partnership with the Carlisle 250 Committee,  an official town committee formed to coordinate the town's commemoration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
