Nathan Parlin
1740 - 1827

Picture
Above: The home pictured above, located at 322 West Street, was constructed in 1721 by members of the Heald Family. At the time of the Revolution, the house and 85 acre farm belonged to Nathan Parlin.

Nathan Parlin served in two wars. As a teenager he was a member of Captain Samuel Davis’s foot company of Acton in 1757 during the French and Indian War. He fought alongside his brother Johnathan who was killed in action in 1758.  In 1774, he was a member of Captain Joseph Robbins Acton Militia Company. He later served in the Revolutionary War as a Minuteman from Acton. He continued to serve under Joseph Robbins who’s company was dispatched to Roxbury in March of 1776.

After the Second District of Carlisle was established incorporating part of Acton, he was elected Selectman 1784. His son, Nathan Parlin Jr., was a member of the Carlisle Minuteman company in the 1790s.

Nathan Parlin is buried in North Acton's Forest Cemetery.

Carlisle Patriots Day 250 is a fiscally sponsored project of the Carlisle Historical Society with the support of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and MA250. We work in close partnership with the Carlisle 250 Committee,  an official town committee formed to coordinate the town's commemoration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
